May, 2014

Greetings from Cross Roads Lutheran Parish!
In a few short weeks, a small but determined group from Cross Roads Lutheran Parish will be leaving for Les Cayes, Haiti. A few weeks after that, a second group of missionaries will be heading to Alabama to work on disaster recovery with Habitat for Humanity....More information on that later.

This blog is the place to learn more about the preparations for the trip, the experiences of those who are going, and of course, the wonderful people who live and work in Haiti and Alabama.

Already,  all four of the Congregations have collected flip flops, undies, and tooth paste and brushes to be distributed. In addition people have been making pillow case dresses that will be given to the girls at the Consolation Center and the Village of Hope. And a fundraiser using envelopes is well under way.

Please keep in prayer: the missionaries, the ministry, and the people of Haiti and Cross Roads Lutheran Parish prepares to the Mission Trip to Haiti!

Blessings on the Journey!

Yes, there will be more mission trips!

Hi All.....
It has been quite a year for the Werges'. In November we accepted calls to St Paul Lutheran Chruch (Wellsburg, Iowa) and Bethany Lutheran (Iowa Falls, Iowa). We hit the road running, so to speak, with planning for Consecration and then Christmas.....We are still getting settled in our new home, but are now able to find the essensials. We are still missing some books and tools, we know that it is all in a box somewhere in the garage. We are thankful for wonderful neighbors and a new church family with so many to get to know.
W are in the process of planning some cool things including a trip to Haiti later this year....we will be sure to post info here as it becomes available. In the meantime be well, and of course....Love Ya, Miss Ya!

WOW! What a week.....

We had a great week in Washington DC, Baltimore, and Mt. Airy/Woodbine. We managed to keep busy every single minute....so needless to say there was not much time for writing....So as we return to our lives,  we will post some of the really cool things that we did. Thank you to everyone who made the trip a huge success.

After 16 hours On the bus we a have arrived with all accounted. With a pretty good ride and lots of jokes there was lots of memories made on the bus. This is my first mission trip and I love it. On the way to the church we are staying at today we saw the WEINER MOBILE :) after hearing elayne sing I think she should go on American idol. When ever we see a cop she sings the song "bad boys" we went to Washington dc yesterday and went to the top of the Washington Monument. I almost dint go up but I did and I am glad I did it to know.we have made lots of memories and I will try to let elayne let me go on and update my post.
For so long,

Lisa here!!!!

What an experience this trip has been!! We took off for DC at 7:30 in the morning which is only a 45 minute drive and it took us 1 hour and 50 minutes! The traffic is like nothing I have ever seen! Not to mention the poverty and so many people and security everywhere! But the security which made some of us nervous was a comfort to me! The Capital building was awesome to see, we ate at Union Station, but the best part of the day was going to up to the top of the Washington Monument! What a view! We were extremely exhausted with very sore feet but it was worth it! Today we go back for another day to take in the sites!
